OUR STORY:

‘New Horizons’, Textile and Colour Trend Stories was conceived in 2020 during the pandemic. We saw a need for a carefully edited trend publication which was affordable and easily accessible to small and medium sized textile related businesses and individual makers. Looking to New Horizons post pandemic, we wanted to create a positive and inspiring trend report which focussed on sustainability and wellbeing.

WHO ARE WE?

JOANNE YEADON

I have worked in the international textile industry for over 20 years developing trend led textile collections in weave and print for fashion and home and have a proven track record of accurately predicting design trends. I have collaborated with brands such as Hugo Boss, Mulberry, Gant, Calvin Klein, John Lewis and Hobbs and have presented trend concepts to Textiles Scotland and Trend Bible.

JANETTE KER

My fellow collaborator on New Horizons, Janette Ker, has over 40 years experience working as a knitwear designer in the textile industry. Janette has run her own label and had a regular slot on national television teaching the nation how to knit! More recently, Janette (alongside her team of hand knitters) ran a textile studio within a large Scottish mill creating beautiful hand knitted cashmere products in a myriad of shades. Janette is the upcycling queen, nothing goes to waste in her studio. Janette was using recycled waste to create beautiful products to sell long before ‘upcycling’ was a buzz word.

‘The team at New Horizons put so much time and effort into the trend report from taking thier own photographs to making up the swatches and colour palettes from the yarns and threads in their highland studio.

The pages are juicy, tactile and sensual all the while provoking thoughts and feelings. This is what the team are so good at! Putting together five seasonal themes while asking the bigger questions around slow fashion and sustainability.

New Horizons is the bridge between imagination and environment, asking us to pause and consider our choices as consumers in 2023 and beyond.

ANNA-LOUISE MEYNELL - ANNALOOM www.annaloom.com

‘I purchased Joanne Yeadon’s Trend Forecasts for 2022 and Beyond recently, and it was just what I needed to kickstart me into my creative process, designing a new collection for Annaloom. I would love to spend hours researching trends myself, but the reality is that I just do not have the time, so this is an invaluable resource. The trend report is sensitive and inspiring. It explores colour, pattern and texture, translating the emotions we have all been feeling over the course of the pandemic, into inspiration and motivation to move forward. I am enjoying rediscovering the design process after a short pause, and these trend stories have given me a framework to structure my ideas around’

‘ALISTAIR MCDADE’ Business Development Manager – Sinclair Duncan. www.sinclairduncan.com

I’ve always loved how Joanne sees colours and represents the simple things of beauty in the world around us.

Her trend boards for the coming soon 2023 and beyond, have given clear direction with room for interpretation which i can see will translate and enrich our luxury cashmere accessory offering’

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS……

Is this presentation suitable for me?

The trend PDF is suitable for anyone interested in textiles, homeware, accessories, apparel, fashion, fibre, yarn and craft. It is relevant to designers and creatives working in smaller independent companies as well as team members of larger businesses looking to kick start their creative process.

Where does the information for the presentation come from?

The seasonal themes are a result of many months of research, studying market trends and catwalks, gathering images, swatches and brainstorming. The prediction methods we use for these reports are exactly the same as the methods we use for producing similar reports in my trend consultancy business.

How is the presentation structured?

There are 5 themes, each theme begins with a colour palette and an explanation of the trend driver. The following pages are an inspiring mix of moodboards, colour palettes, textures, fabrics, yarns and fabric concepts. The final ‘Reflection’ pages propose questions relating to the previous theme and encourage thought, reflection and planning.
